Happy Fourth of July
As both an interior designer and a mom, the Fourth of July holds a special place in my heart—it’s the perfect blend of celebration, creativity, and cherished family time. It’s one of those rare holidays where design can be fun, a little kitschy, and still beautiful. I love finding ways to make our home festive without going overboard—think classic Americana with a fresh twist.
Design Tip: Subtle Stars & Stripes
Instead of decking out the entire house in bold red, white, and blue, I like to incorporate the palette in more natural, textured ways. Linen table runners, vintage blue glassware, and soft red-striped pillows can make a space feel festive but still sophisticated. A few well-placed flags, a bowl of cherries, and you're set!
Mom Moments: Fireworks & Finger Foods
The best part of the day? Watching my kids light up (literally and figuratively) during fireworks. But before that, it’s all about simple, kid-friendly snacks: watermelon slices, mini hot dogs, and popsicles that stain everything red and blue—and I wouldn't have it any other way. We always set up a little craft table outside, too. It keeps little hands busy while the grown-ups catch up.
Design Meets Memory-Making
To me, good design is about creating spaces where memories can unfold naturally. Whether it’s a cozy backyard picnic or a candlelit porch gathering, I design with joy and comfort in mind—especially on holidays like this.
Happy Fourth, from my home to yours! May your day be full of beauty, laughter, and just the right amount of sparkle.
