Behind The Name

“Hey Catherine! It’s so nice to meet you.” is the phrase I hear on a daily basis. In the past two-and-a-half years, my name has gone from Alison to Catherine and back to Alison in the matter of minutes of meeting vendors, potential clients, and everyone in between. The funny thing is when I was designing my business name, I never thought about the amount of confusion that it would cause - now I look at the mix up as a conversation starter and an opportunity to share the story behind Catherine Rose Design & CO.

I wanted to design my business name the way I design my clients homes: intentional, thoughtful, deeply connected, and so personal. Catherine Rose Design & CO. is as personal and deep as it gets for me…My beautiful daughters are the starting point and my daily inspiration - I hope they are inspired by me in ways that I could only dream about.

Charlotte Rose, my oldest, was named after my grandmother, Rosemary. Olivia Catherine, my youngest daughter, was named after my husband’s grandmother, Catherine. Together - with our family’s rich heritage - the name Catherine Rose Design & CO. was born. However, there is a catch: CO doesn’t actually stand for “company” - C for Charlotte and O for Olivia. It’s a fun play on words that is a subtle nod to my girls. I often refer to them as the CO gals in my social stories and posts too! 

The name is more than just my business name. It’s who I am now as a wife, mother, and business owner and I couldn’t be more proud to share all that is CRD&CO.
