A Primary Suite Renovation Where Timeless Design Meets Modern Living
Some projects just feel like they were meant to be, and CRD&CO. Suite Dreams was one of them.
From our very first conversation, I knew this project was going to be something special. For starters, my client's name is Alison, too! We immediately bonded over sharing the same name, laughing about the various ways people spell it, and quickly discovered that our similarities went well beyond our names. We connected on the overall design aesthetic almost instantly, sharing an appreciation for timeless interiors, vintage-inspired details, and spaces that feel elevated without being overly formal.
And just like that, Suite Dreams was born.
Reimagining the Primary Suite
This project was much more than a bedroom refresh. It was a full-scale primary suite renovation, transforming both the bedroom and bathroom into a cohesive, thoughtfully designed retreat.
From a construction standpoint, we made significant changes to improve the functionality and flow of the space. New windows were installed, while existing windows were closed off to accommodate a more intentional floor plan and furniture layout. The primary bathroom underwent a complete gut renovation, including an expanded footprint that allowed us to create a brighter, airier, and more functional space.
Every decision, from the architectural changes to the smallest finishing details, was made with the same goal in mind: creating a primary suite that felt beautiful, comfortable, and designed around the way our clients actually live.
A Little Vintage, A Little Modern, and a Whole Lot of Character
When it came to the overall aesthetic, we wanted to strike a very specific balance: timeless, elevated, and refined, but still approachable and inviting.
One of my favorite elements of this project was the desire to incorporate pieces that felt as though they had been collected over generations. Think of that beautiful piece of furniture your grandmother might have passed down to you, something with history, character, and a story to tell, but styled in a way that feels completely current.
That became the inspiration behind so many of our design selections.
We incorporated vintage-inspired furnishings, layered textiles, rich yet cool textures, and warm brass accents to bring depth and personality into the space. Rather than relying on one particular design style, we mixed traditional influences with modern finishes to create an interior that feels collected rather than overly coordinated.
The result is a beautiful balance of old and new, where every element has a purpose and nothing feels too precious to enjoy.
It's a design approach I love bringing into our projects at Catherine Rose Design & CO. because a home should feel like a reflection of the people living in it, not simply a collection of beautiful things.
The Beauty of a Seamless Design Experience
One of the things that made Suite Dreams such an enjoyable project was how naturally everything came together.
From the initial design conversations to the final installation, we were aligned on the vision, and that made the entire process feel collaborative, exciting, and genuinely fun.
Of course, no renovation or full-service interior design project is entirely without its challenges. We encountered a few minor delivery hurdles along the way, but those are exactly the types of details that CRD&CO. manages behind the scenes.
Coordinating with vendors, navigating delivery schedules, resolving unexpected issues, and ensuring everything arrives as intended are all part of the full-service design experience. While the finished photographs capture the pretty part, there is so much happening behind the scenes to make those moments possible.
And that is something I take a lot of pride in. My clients are trusting me not only to create beautiful spaces but also to manage the many moving pieces that come with bringing a design vision to life.
With Suite Dreams, that process came together beautifully.
The Final Reveal: A Retreat Designed for Everyday Living
The finished primary suite is everything we hoped it would be: bright, airy, sophisticated, and filled with character.
The expanded primary bathroom feels like a fresh, peaceful retreat, while the bedroom offers a softer, more layered approach to traditional design. Together, the spaces feel cohesive without being overly matched, creating a sense of comfort and understated elegance.
What I love most about this project is that nothing feels forced. The vintage-inspired details feel right at home alongside the updated architecture and modern conveniences. It's a space that feels like it has evolved over time, even though it was completely reimagined.
From connecting over our shared name to watching the final details come together, CRD&CO. Suite Dreams was truly a wonderful project from start to finish.
And at the end of the day, that's what thoughtful interior design is all about: creating spaces that not only look beautiful but feel personal, function effortlessly, and make everyday living just a little more special.
