Out With the Heavy, In With the Light
One of my favorite parts of seasonal design is recognizing when it’s time to shift the energy of a home. After months of winter’s deeper tones, cozy textures, and layered moments, spring quietly invites us to lighten things up. It’s not about a full overhaul. In fact, the best seasonal updates are often the simplest ones.
This time of year, I find myself naturally reaching for pieces that feel a little brighter, a little softer, and a little more relaxed. Think lighter fabrics, fresh greenery, and styling moments that allow a space to feel open and refreshed again.
Sometimes that means swapping a heavier throw blanket for something linen, rearranging a few accessories, or bringing in fresh flowers that instantly change the mood of a room. Small shifts like these can make a home feel completely renewed without changing the bones of the space.
As designers, we often talk about how homes should evolve with the rhythm of life. Seasonal transitions are the perfect reminder of that philosophy. Our homes should feel cozy when winter calls for it, but they should also feel light, bright, and full of possibility as we move into the warmer months.
And right now, there’s nothing better than letting a little more light in. ☀️
