The Project That Was Meant To Be: A Story of Perfect Timing & Thoughtful Design
This is one I might actually get emotional about.
Some projects come together through careful planning. Others feel like they were simply meant to be - and this one was exactly that. Being in the right place, at the right time.
Let’s rewind to November 2024, right at the start of the holiday season. A few of my mom friends planned a night out at a local boutique for a wreath-making workshop. And if you know me, you know I am not a DIYer. I have the vision, I have the ideas - but I’m usually the one bringing in the right people to execute them. That night, though, I showed up for what I thought would be exactly what I needed: time with friends, a glass of champagne, and a little creative fun.
As we got started, my friends and I were laughing about how our wreaths were probably going to turn out. One of them joked, “Yours is going to be amazing, you’re an interior designer.” I laughed it off… until the woman next to me turned and said, “Wait! You’re a designer? We need to talk before the night is over.”
And just like that, everything shifted.
By the end of the evening, I was handing over my business card while she shared details about her major home renovation - a full first-floor remodel with a second-floor addition. She mentioned she was meeting with her contractor the very next day… who, coincidentally, happened to be one of the top builders I frequently collaborate with.
When I told her, we both paused. It felt like one of those moments where everything just clicks.
But it didn’t stop there.
She had been in an appliance showroom earlier that week - one whose owner’s wife was sitting right there with us, making wreaths. The more we talked, the more connections we uncovered. It felt less like coincidence and more like alignment.
Within days, she officially signed on, and we began what would become a 15+ month journey. Because, as I always say, good design takes time.
A Home Designed for a New Chapter
This project was rooted in something deeper than design. It was about creating a home that reflected a new chapter for a truly special family - one filled with strong, inspiring women.
From the start, we leaned into bold, intentional choices that pushed me outside of my typical comfort zone in the best way. We embraced color in a way that felt fresh and confident, layering in pink tones throughout the home. In the kitchen, we selected black limestone countertops - rich, grounding, and unexpected. And instead of a traditional backsplash, we went in a completely different direction (one you’ll have to see to fully appreciate).
Every detail was considered. Every moment was intentional.
And the primary bathroom? It’s one of those spaces that doesn’t quite feel real until you’re standing in it because it's just that good!
A Home That Will Stay With Me
This home is where traditional design meets statement-making moments. It’s layered, personal, and filled with energy that reflects the family who lives there.
It’s also a project I’ll always hold close to my heart.
During one of our final site visits, I brought my daughter Olivia with me. As she walked through the space, she looked around and said, “It’s like Barbie’s real life dream house.”
And honestly? She wasn’t wrong.
But to me, it was always something more.
It was a project that came together exactly the way it was meant to.
