Autumn: According to an Interior Designer

Autumn, according to an interior designer.

More layers. More texture. A few extra pillows and a blanket within reach of every seat. Richer, moodier colors that make you want to settle in and stay awhile.

Fall is my favorite time of year for both the shift at home and the shift in weather. I love bringing warmth into our rooms through soft throws, textured fabrics, and deeper tones.

And that cozy feeling carries right into the kitchen: pumpkin everything, simmering soups, hearty chilis, and all the flavors that make the house smell as welcoming as it feels. This is my favorite season to get lost in the kitchen for hours, making a cozy meal for my family.

The mornings are darker, and that 4:40 AM alarm gets a little harder to answer. But the cool air in the early mornings and late evenings? Easily one of my favorite parts of the season.

I love seeing mums pop up on front porches, while the CO girlies are fully embracing the fun, playful side of Halloween decor. Give us friendly ghosts and cute pumpkins - we’re keeping it cheerful over here!

At CRD&CO., we’re always thinking about how a home feels as much as how it looks. Autumn brings so many reasons to add another layer, put something delicious on the stove, and enjoy being home.
